The profession of a Data Entry Clerk has an enumerated number of duties and responsibilities to perform which includes everything from the administrative to clerical activities of an organization. Following are some of the duties and responsibilities of a Data Entry Clerk:

Duties:

  • The primary duty of a Data Entry Clerk is to perform clerical activities such as typing letters, addressing letters concerned with job recruitments and also customer queries, word processing etc.
  • The main duty of being a Data Entry Clerk is to type key information of the organization into data banks also known as computers to maintain a record of information of all the information necessary to run the business of the organization.
  • It is the duty of the Data Entry Clerk to compare the data entered into the computers with the sources documents or to re-enter the data after verifying the format detecting the errors on screen.
  • Data Entry Clerk is involved in filing budgetary spreadsheets and to proofread sums. However, this duty demands the skills to maintain accuracy and fast typing.
  • In a medical organization, a Data Entry Clerk is given the duty to input all the information of the patient into medical records taking note of the physician’s advice and also recording test results.
